Does anyone have a good guide on how to Lucid Dream?
Gonzo asked:
Or books on how to do it. Is there a lot of dangers like having a bad "trip" or nightmare? Is there a sequence or preparation mentally that you have to engage in to trigger this mode? Would NLP help in the process?

I did it just by telling myself before I put my head down each night that I would have a lucid dream
It started to happen patchily after a week I have never had fiull control but have patches where I am able to direct. but can ususally swing mightmares around. when I started I was logging my dreams a lot and very into them doing a lot of dream work so that in my active waking life I was tuned in to dream metaphors.

The more you record your thoughts the easier it will become.
Keep a journal beside your bed.
Waking up 2 to 3 hours into sleep and going back to sleep for about 30-45 minutes at a time will create very lucid dreams that can often continue.
Of course don't do this often or you will seriously disrupt your sleep pattern.

There are a few different techniques, one is a WILD(Wake-initiation of lucid dreams) this is when you go from being awake into a lucid dream this one takes the most work to learn and will almost always result in sleep paralysis which is very scary if you never experienced it before. Another is a WBTB (Wake-back-to-bed) this is where you go to sleep for a few hours then wake yourself up at 3-6 am and stay up for 30-45 minutes before going back to bed and telling yourself to have a lucid dream this is the easiest most successful way to have a lucid dream and the chances of having sleep paralysis is not as great. What I would do is study about lucid dreams as much as you can build up your dream recall because the more dreams you remember the easier it is for you to find dream signs that will help you know when you are sleep. Also you have to start a dream journal write down all your dreams and read them you will start to be able to notice your dream signs (one of my dream signs is not being able to open my eyes but being able to see everything in my dream, I always think why can I see but my eyes are closed and try for the life of me to open them, then I realize I'm sleeping and thats why they are closed.) When I see this dream sign it tells me I'm dreaming and then i become aware. check out great site for beginners. Good dreaming
