Why do people insist that NLP works when there are absolutely no scientific studies verifying that claim?

Dr. Bob :

When you see who's involved in NLP (former writers about Gestalt Therapy, and Tony Robbins whose experience was apparently limited to one weekend at an NLP workshop) you start to see that NLP is not a therapy but a "personal improvement" program based largely on emotional events.

You are right…no scientific evidence supports it (although several studies have demonstrated the opposite…that is, some of NLP's claims have been found to be completely bogus).

However, people do become attached in an emotional way to certain experience-oriented programs, much as people got all enthused in the 1970s about Gestalt Therapy, Erhard Seminar Training (EST), and encounter groups (all of which have found a place in NLP, with very little changed).

"Degustibus non disputandum est" = "There's no accounting for taste." In other words, people do what they want to to, think what they want to think, feel what they want to feel…and don't bother me with facts!
