NLP Videos Explained - Predictable by Darren Brown

In this particular video, we are introduced to Darren Brown. This particular professional is a firm believer in the power of the mind. He believes that he is empowering others by teaching them to grasp the power of the mind and utilize it. His personal mission is to provide others with the education that is necessary to mix the mental capacity of their mind in conjunction with NLP techniques and to expose those individuals who actually take advantage of NLP coaching strategies and basic techniques on unsuspecting individuals. While many see Darren Brown as an entertainer, those that are in the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming see him as a true professional in the field that has some awesome strategies to share with others in the field.

In Predictable by Darren Brown, he meets up with an individual and carries some simple cards in with him. The cards have the words "yes" and "no" on them. Throughout the "pacing and leading" aspect of the conversation, he drops subtle hints to the individual that he is working with. The man who is being subjected to the test must determine if the card on the table – whether it is "yes", or "no". It is based on the NLP Coaching concept of leading and pacing. It is believed that most people are rather predictable. The purpose behind the cards are that it is normal for one to be predictable – like, Darren Brown nods his head, and the man guesses " yes" which is correct.

As the video progresses, money is introduced into the game. This money is offered for a correct answer. He offers up 1000 pounds, and actually informs the individual that the answer is "no". He even tells him that he is wrong. However, the individual still persists in that the answer is "yes". However, Darren Brown offers many nonverbal cues that portray the "yes" pace and lead. Which not only confirms the fact that sometimes our subconscious mind picks up on these pacing and leading techniques, but that pacing and leading is an effective strategy when it comes to leading someone to a certain outcome.
