Do you know of anyone who has used the NLP painless childbirth classes?

Ok… addicted to blogtalkradio.com. I listened to a segment on using neurolingusitc psychology to mentally prepare you for childbirth. There were many women who left testimonials about how they laughed through a natural childbirth b/c they felt they weren't experiencing pain.

Not that I'm a wussy girl, mind you, I'm just looking at alternatives to epiderals. Is this the same thing as Lamaze?
Also, if you've taken Lamaze… how helpful was it to you.

Not the same thing as Lamaze. I have never heard of it, but with Lamaze (from what I hear) you will feel pain and probably have drugs.
I used the Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth, and it was beautiful. I had not a single pain med for my entire 24 hour labor, 9 hours of which I was pushing. I **** even referring to it as pain because I think of pain as something negative and the experience was not negative at all - I enjoyed it.
Anything that you are mentally prepared for will be much easier to handle- just because these women have glowing testimonials does not mean that it is the right method for you. If you are uncomfortable with the techniques, you won't do them. If you really want to avoid an epidural, do some research on several different methods and find one that seems as if you would be most comfortable, and do not do any hospital sponsored or dr. office sponsored "birth classes" - they are geared towards doing things their way (DRUGS).
Good Luck!

I've never heard of it, but here in Australia there is such a thing as 'hypnobirthing' I plan to give it a go with this pregnancy. Basically, you can either go to a qualified hypnotist (i'm not sure if they have to be specifically trained for this kind of thing), or there are CD's that you can buy. It's not like the hypnosis you see on TV, where they make you quack like a duck LOL, but it's supposed to help you visualise, and think good thoughts through your labour. Have a look on Ebay for the CD's if you're interested.
I have had 3 babies so far, all without drugs, so it's definatly possible. There are many natural things you can do to relieve the pain
